Really. I’ve been part of the experiment. How many times have you gone to submit to a lit mag only to find an exhaustive list of themes, topics, or identities that don’t apply to you or your writing? Don’t you wish that these magazines would just publish a good piece of writing for once?
As someone who just wants to find a home for writing that comes from blood, soul, and experience, I’ve often been frustrated by the lack of genuine literary lovers in the literary journal world. That’s why I created Pens and Poison Mag, a new type of literary magazine that does not constrain your writing by theme, group, or identity. We’re just interested in good writing that captures a genuine facet of the human experience.
